Capture One is a great software package for basic editing and cataloging..  and for Sony cameras there is a free to use version

Create a “Pictures” folder at the top of your filesystem, this is where you will create and store your photolibraries.  You should NOT put all you photos in one single huge library, so you need to think about how to break them up into smaller libraries.  

For my own travel photography, I make a new library for each country/visit, e.g.  Tanzania-2018 and so on.
